Some users generally delete the files from the USB drive or just format the thumb drive in a Quick Format way. But, it didn’t clean the data completely from the USB drive. You may want to clear a flash drive for some security reasons or to remove a virus/ malware from the drive. To clean the flash drive completely just follow the steps shown in this video.
1. Insert the flash drive into your PC. It will automatically open the USB drive windows.
2. Before clearing the flash drive, be sure that you have taken the backup of your USB drive on your PC.
3. To do so, select the important files of your USB drive and right-click on these.
4. From the drop-down list, click on Copy.
5. Right-click on an empty space on your desktop.
6. From the drop-down list, click on the New option and then click on folder.
7. This will create a new folder on your desktop. Name this folder as Back up.
8. Double click on this newly created folder to open it.
9. Now, right-click in the empty folder and choose Paste from the drop-down list.
10. We have created a backup of our USB drive. Now, it’s time to clear the flash drive.
11. In the right panel, click on your USB drive name.
12. Right-click on it, and from the drop-down menu click on Format…
13. In the Format window, unselect the Quick Format option if it is marked as checked.
14. Now, click on the Start button.
15. In the alert pop-up window, click on the OK button.
16. This will start full formatting your USB drive, and this process will be slower than the Quick Format option.
17. The formatting will take a long time and will depend on your system configuration. So, please keep patient until it completes the full formatting.
18. At the completion of Formatting, you will see an alert box of Format Complete.
19. Click on the OK button, and we have clear a flash drive completely on our PC.
