Intel Core i5-2410M Intel HD 3000 17 GAMES TESTED IN 05/2021 (6GB RAM)

Hello guys, welcome to a new video on this channel. For today’s video, I was testing a Fujitsu Lifebook S (SH531) with its Intel Core i5 2410M, onboard graphics called Intel HD3000, and 6GB of RAM in 17 games.

Some information ahead: I experienced a bit of a throttling regarding the CPU clock rate because the system reached up to 90°C in some titles. That’s why I opened the case, but guess what, there has been zero dust in it. It has been totally clean. So either the case has got simply bad cooling or the thermal paste below the CPU cooler respectively heatsink became worse over the last couple of years. This system is nearly 10 years old. I think I’m going to try giving this system some more years to live repasting its thermal paste. This might be a nice project for an upcoming video.
However, let’s talk a bit about using an Intel HD3000 in 2021. It’s bad, really bad. But I guess you knew this already, just like me. But what you probably, and me neither, didn’t know is that some titles that ran fine on the HD3000 a couple of years ago aren’t supported anymore. Therefore they don’t work anymore. World of Warcraft, Killing Floor 2 but also Valorant are good examples of this behavior. I haven’t tested Valorant in this video but it’s not supporting DirectX 10 GPUs anymore since a couple of patches.
Other titles that ran way better a couple of years ago are now running bad… really bad. Counter-Strike Global Offensive and Ring of Elysium would be a good example.
Then again I got surprised by some titles running pretty solid on this low-end system. League of Legends, Minecraft, Tomb Raider, and Skyrim vanilla surprised me positively.
In conclusion am I able to recommend an Intel HD 3000 in 2021. Of course in no way! Even if you’re using a desktop system with an Intel HD3000 so there would be no throttling this onboard graphics is just outdated. The lack of Direct X11 support is really bad but also the overall performance in modern titles is non-existent. Another problem is that the last supported driver version is of 2016. Running on a 5-year-old video driver screams for a change of system if you want to play modern games.
It might be a good option for retro gaming. Some Quake Live, Left 4 Dead 2, or even older titles would be running buttery smooth.
That was a lot of talk about the HD3000. Some words about the CPU. In contrast to the onboard graphics, the Intel Core i5 2410M is still pretty solid. It’s good enough for everyday tasks like Youtube, browsing the web, or just writing an email. It’s even solid for video rendering. I’ve rendered this whole project on this CPU. It needed 50 minutes for this video in Vegas Pro. That’s still an ok value.
Enough talk about this slow hardware let’s come to an end. Thank you for watching this video. Leave a like and subscribe to this channel if you haven’t done so already. Stay safe and have a great day. I hopefully see you all in the next one. Goodbye.
